Flickr is an interesting site, and one I hope will improve upon some of the earlier work by Yafro and others.  Yafro, however, has a lot of pr0n; it also just lost a month&#8217;s worth of photos due to a &#8220;programming error&#8221; on their disk mirroring.  Both are severe blows to adoption.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Orkut was a refreshing alternative to Friendster (date and mate) because there was a modest barrier to entry, which kept the quality up.  Unfortunately, it&#8217;s been buckling under its own popularity, and has become virtually unsuable due to long page loads and timeouts.</description>
