Hello,
I am interested in purchasing your domain name,
43things.com.
Would you be interested in selling? I’m interested in
the domain name itself (not any site content).
If interested let me know. Also, if you can provide an
asking price or a ballpark figure that would be
appreciated but not neccesary.
Thank you,

I brought hal online today, and everything seems to be running smoothly. There were a few hours where hal wasn’t able to upload images, but he should be all good now.

It’s always a fun day when we pick the new pony names. While half the robots were on vacation, we had a chance to nail down some development plans for the next 3 months. We came up with 5 new releases – and 5 new pony names. So get ready for minty, waddles, blossom, tossles and wingsong.

Folks, thanks for sticking with us while we figure out how to keep the sites up. In addition to the media exposure, we spent several hours today doing 40+ requests per second thanks to some over eager Chinese robots. We have new hardware getting set up and are researching upgrading the firewall as well. We’ll try and keep you all doing your 43 Things, Places and People as best we can.
Thanks

We were trying to discover why our traffic jumped by about 30% (taking us up to 14 requests per second and taking the site down with it); we couldn’t figure it out from looking in our logs – and low and behold this showed up in our inbox:
“Great news… 43Things.com was featured in a nationally televised report!
AOL’s Consumer Advisor Regina Lewis talked about the site in her Online Buzz report, which appeared on various local and national news outlets, including CNN’s Headline News. Please click on this link to see streaming video of the story. Feel free to add the link to your web site.
Regards,
AOL’s Online Buzz Team

Uh, Thanks! Regina is the new slashdot.

We wish we were getting a massage. Instead, we are just getting loads of traffic and having some trouble keeping the sites up. We’ll let you know if we learn more.

Yesterday we passed the 100,000 people mark on 43 Things. Exciting news as it blows our original expectations out of the water. 43 Things has not just grown faster than we imagined but it has grown in interesting and unexpected ways. I never would have guessed that the day we passed 100,000 users the top goal would be customize my myspace page. That’s some crazy jazz!
100,000 people in 3,000 cities doing over 200,000 things and still growing. Not sure where it’s all headed but folks still want to go on a road trip with no predetermined destination and I for one plan to tag along for the ride.

43 Things Entry of the Day
“cheers for the latest edition“, an entry by
garland:
i’m a fan of the changes in the most recent edition of 43people. the new look/organization is very attractive, and i’m really glad it no longer shows how many people want to meet each person on their page. the whole thing seems much more friendly.
and 43people activity shows up in subscriptions. excellent. it might be cool to be able to subscribe to entries written about your subscribees, too. possible?
there’s still some problems with broken photos, but i’m sure the robots already know that.
oh, also: i just noticed an inconsistency (maybe). when you view the whole list of people met by one person (….43people.com/profile/met) it lists the number of people on each of their lists, rather than their locations. but this particular page looks kind of unfinished, so maybe this is premature feedback.
anyway, 43people is clearly a job in the process of being well-done.
