Isn’t this functionality already available through RSS? Still it might be fun to get this via email so that when people delete their account we have proof that we did have more cheers than what it reflects currently. Thanks for giving us the multiple options of immediate, daily and weekly. I’ll go click and try it out now.
Yes, though many of our users aren’t familiar with RSS. We figured email would be a more user-friendly way of letting people know when they get a cheer.
A nice, _optional_ function to have. Thanks.
Me likey!
I think a lot of the people whose cheer strategy includes “giving back to those that have cheered you” might find this feature pretty keen!

I like this! Thanks Robots. I’m not sure I’ll go for the every-time email, but a daily summary might be nice, especially for those who are away from the site for a few days.
I’m not too keen on the new timestamp, though. I’m in the UK, so the time shown is way out for me. I liked it when I could see how many hours ago someone had made a comment, rather than what time it was in a far distant land when they made it. Any chance of changing it back, or perhaps allowing us to choose our own time zone?
I also noticed this morning that when clicking on a goal’s main page it now shows you who has adopted it recently (even if they haven’t written an entry yet) and gives you the option to cheer. I like this very much!
I agree with you that many users won’t know RSS and that email is a preferable form of contact. So how about using email to keep 43Ters informed? Not many of us are in the habit of stopping by the blog (or we don’t use RSS, or are subbed to so many blogs that your updates get lost in the maelstrom), so we don’t find out about developments like this . I would imagine that most of us have ticked the box saying we would like to receive site news and announcements by email, so it would be great if we actually did.
Thanks Robots, you’re doing a great job. We appreciate you working with us, especially after the whole ButtonGate fiasco. We love you!
